An exhibition using art that impresses by its size is, of course, an opportune one for an agency specializing in murals. A mural has no limits, except for the dimensions once determined by the architect. Guido Winkler, invited to this show by Murals Inc. knew how to deal with the BIG given. He designed a mural of ± 360 x 1400 cm.
Guido Winkler is a visual artist living in Leiden. He makes abstract paintings, prints, photographs, spatial installations and murals that evoke associations with architecture and in which concepts such as spatiality and time and the perception of these concepts are explored and made visible. Starting points are the (classical) perspective in relation to ‘the painting as an object’ and the influence of context (or its absence) on perception.
Guido Winkler exhibits at home and abroad. He is represented by Alfa Gallery in Miami and Murals Inc. in Rotterdam. Guido Winkler is active in organizing as founder and executive director of the Projectatelier Leiden (1999-2002), and together with Iemke van Dijk, IS-projects (2007-2019) and currently EST. Art Foundation (est. 2019). For Museum De Lakenhal, they created the Open Air Museum De Lakenhal: 100 Years after De Stijl in 2017.
