For Big Art 2021, Murals Inc. invited Barbara Helmer. Her mural ‘The rug, left corner’, is based on the simplified patterns of a Persian carpet. And then only the left corner so that the illusion is created of endless repetition of the pattern.

Barbara Helmer's work is about fractions, small parts of a whole. And about light, how it shines through an object, or reflects on it. It refers to jewellery, quartz and minerals, and in a more abstract way to connected and linked forms in the form of chain links. Beauty inspires her; shapes, details, light, colours, anything in her immediate environment can give rise to it. Besides observing, she feels an urge to create: to transform into paint. She experiments with paint until light, depth, and all the gradients recognisable to the human eye become visible. With her mural ‘The rug, left corner’, she once again gives shape to beauty that lies hidden in all earthly matter.

With this edition, Murals Inc. participates for the 4th time in the art manifestation BIG ART. An exhibition featuring art that impresses with its size is obviously an opportune event for an agency specialising in murals. A mural has no limits, except the dimensions once determined by the architect.
