Murals Inc. presents SEQUENTIE \ SEQUENCE by Erris Huigens \ Deconstructie, whose practice is characterized by site-specific interventions, geometric abstraction, and processes of deconstruction. Working between the studio and abandoned locations, he explores how existing systems, objects, and architectural structures can be dismantled and reconfigured. Through minimal interventions, he reveals hidden spatial relationships and invites viewers to experience space, form, and context in new ways.

The exhibition also serves as a foundation for a subsequent project curated by Huigens. Building on the ideas introduced here, a following presentation will bring together multiple artists in an extended exploration of space, structure, and context.

Our location (Piekstraat 31) is included in the route of the IABR (International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam) site at Piekstraat (Hunter Douglas building).

Erris Huigens, who lives and works in Wageningen (The Netherlands), presents his artistic practice under the name Deconstructie, focusing on site-specific works that explore the relationship between form, painting, and drawing in dialogue with the space in which they are produced and installed. His experimentation involves the deconstruction of existing systems and a minimalist visual expression. His works, often characterized by strict geometries, challenge conventional categorizations, placing themselves in a liminal state that encourages a rethinking of space and form. During his visits to abandoned buildings or industrial sites, Huigens creates murals and moves elements between his studio and the location, in a continuous exchange between context and artwork. Abandoned objects become subjects in his presentations, revealing a connection to graffiti subculture. This practice creates a complex dialogue between geometric abstraction and the viewer's experience, highlighting the invisible forces that shape our perception of space.
